Opposition banking on big name, but has short vision: Rajnath Singh | India News

NASHIK: Defence minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday said the opposition parties were banking on a big name for their grand alliance, but had a small vision. His statement came on the day the top functionaries of INDIA had the first of their two-day meeting in Mumbai.
Singh and Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde were at Loni in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra to participate in the celebrations to mark the 123rd birth anniversary of Vitthalrao Vikhe Patil, a pioneer of the cooperative movement.
“The opposition has come up with a big name — INDIA. The name is big, but it has small vision (Naam bade aur darshan chhote). They want to use this name to defeat the Narendra Modi-led NDA government in the (2024) election. They must remember that they have to do good work like our PM to come to power,” Singh said.
He said that the country, under Modi’s leadership, had become strong and every nation in the world started taking India seriously after the NDA government came to power in 2014.
“Modi’s stature is such that his request to Russian and Ukrainian presidents Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky, respectively, last year ensured the war stopped for four-and-half hours. That enabled us to evacuate Indians from Ukraine. Our country is no longer weak,” he said.
He also said that under the Modi government, the country has moved up from being the tenth-largest economy to the fifth-largest in the world. He added that the country would move to the third position within the next three years.
Earlier, Singh said the cooperative sector was poised to play a vital role in making India the third-largest economy in the coming years. “Cooperative is a flourishing sector today. It is not only mentioned in our Constitution but under the leadership of the PM, a separate ministry of co-operation has also been created to promote the co-operative movement,” he said.
