NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday claimed that the countdown for the end of the Congress-led government in Chhatisgarh has officially begun. Addressing the Vijay Sankalap Maharally in Chhattisgarh’s Mungeli, he said that the public’s eagerness for the departure of Congress is confirmed after the initial phase of assembly elections.
“The bugle of the end of Congress’ bad governance is being sounded. The time has come for the farewell of those Congress leaders who have looted you for five years. The public of the state is more eager for the ‘bidai’ of Congress from the state. The public doesn’t want Congress anymore,” the Prime Minister said.
PM Modi also launched a scathing attack on Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel, accusing him of “rampant corruption”. He highlighted an alleged agreement for the post of chief minister for two-and-a-half years, claiming that Baghel indulged in significant corruption during his initial tenure.
“Action will be taken against corruption in Chhattisgarh after the BJP comes to power in the state,” PM Modi assured, referring to reports of Baghel possibly losing his assembly seat.
However, the focal point of his address remained the Mahadev app scandal, with the Prime Minister demanding transparency from the Congress regarding the alleged payments to CM Baghel and other party leaders. Hitting out at Congress, over alleged involvement in the scandal, PM Modi urged the party to reveal the extent of the chief minister’s role in it. He also accused the Congress of compromising its values in the pursuit of votes and appeasement.
The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the people of Chhattisgarh for favouring the BJP in the first phase of the assembly polls, confidently stating, “From phase 1 of the assembly polls, it is clear that the Congress rule will end in Chhattisgarh.”
PM Modi on Monday also promised rapid development if the BJP returned to power in the state, assuring that the dreams of the youth would be fulfilled.
Chhattisgarh will have the second phase of voting on November 17.
