Hemant Soren lodges FIR against ED officials over searches at his Delhi residence | India News

NEW DELHI:Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren on Wednesday lodged an FIR in Ranchi against Enforcement Directorate officials under the SC/ST Act over searches at his official residence in national capital on Monday.
An ED team had visited Soren’s residence in Delhi on Monday to question him in the case. However, the Jharkhand chief minister was not present in his house. The ED team camped at his residence for nearly 13 hours and found Rs 36 lakh in cash and incriminating documents during its searches. The probe agency also seized a luxury SUV from Soren’s residence.
Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren has named five ED officials, including Kapil Raj and investigating officer Deovrat Jha, in his FIR with the SC/ST police station in Ranchi.

Hemant, in his complaint, has claimed that he was present at the New Delhi resident on January 27 and 28. He further said that he did not own the BMW SUV which was seized and also did not possess illicit cash.
“The action of the officers who have conducted search operation in Jharkhand Bhawan, New Delhi, and at 5/01, Shanti Niketan, New Delhi, to harass and malign me and my entire community,” Soren said in his FIR.
CM Soren alleged that he was not given any prior information about search carried out by the ED officials at Shanti Niketan on January 29.
Ranchi Police confirmed that the CM had lodged an FIR adding that investigation is under way.
Soren’s party Jharkhand Mukti Morcha had slammed the ED for visiting his Delhi residence and had asked if the ED team had planted the cash found there. The JMM alleged that the Jharkhand chief minister was being treated like a criminal and accused the Centre of indulging in “open hooliganism” with the help of central agencies.
Soren is presently being questioned by ED sleuths at his Ranchi residence regarding the same case.
