NASHIK: A 65-year-old man and his 11-year-old granddaughter died while her elder sister was critically injured when a speeding state transport bus knocked down their two-wheeler at Mungse Phata on Mumbai-Agra highway near Malegaon on Tuesday morning, reports Santosh Sonawane.
Police said the accident occurred when Sitaram Suryawanshi was on his way to drop his grandchildren-Vaishnavi and Manjusha (13)-to their school on his two-wheeler around 7am.Suryawanshi and Vaishavi died on the spot after the Malegaon-bound ST bus from Saptashrungigad hit the scooter. The police said Manjusha was recuperating in a private hospital in Malegaon.
Villagers blocked traffic on the highway and said authorities should ensure speed breakers and flyover on the highway near the village.
