Congress: Amit Malviya blames Congress for Himachal Pradesh farmers destroying apples, peas | India News

NEW DELHI: BJP IT Cell chief Amit Malviya has alleged that the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh has ruined the farmers who are compelled to destroy their produce such as apples and peas because the dispensation has not kept its promises made before the 2022 assembly election.

Malviya, who is also the party’s co-in-charge of West Bengal, also blamed Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and said she had made huge promises but which have not been fulfilled by the state government.
He posted a video clip on Twitter on Tuesday showing some farmers dumping sacks full of peas by the roadside. He said, “After apples, farmers have now dumped their peas in sacks at Theog, 30 km from Shimla. The Congress has ruined the farmers of Himachal Pradesh. Priyanka Vadra had made big promises to the farmers in Himachal. It was all a sham.”

Taking a dig at the Congress, Malviya said a party, which could not manage a state, is dreaming of running the country.

Earlier on July 30, Malviya tweeted a video of some farmers immersing crates of apples in a rivulet. “Apple growers in Shimla are forced to drain their produce in a rivulet because the Congress government in Himachal has failed to help farmers reach fruits to market in time.”
He said on the one hand Congress leader Rahul Gandhi sheds tears for farmers, on the other, the Congress state governments prove to be a disaster when it comes to assisting farmers. “This is why fruits and vegetables are expensive in the market.”

In yet another tweet, the BJP leader attacked Priyanka, who had extensively campaigned in Himachal Pradesh during the last year’s assembly election and made promises to the farmers.
In the video clip shot in 2022, Priyanka is heard saying in a public rally that the farmers demand the price of their crops. The apple growers demand the cost of their produce but they are not getting it. “Who is fixing the rates in the BJP regime? The rates are being fixed by their big corporate friends. They are availing of all facilities. They can quote any rice they want. But the poor farmers who are toiling throughout the day, are not being heard. They do not get the rates they demand,” she said.

Malviya has attacked both Priyanka and the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu government of the Congress in the hilly state.
