Kharge cites precedents as opposition demands Manipur debate | India News

NEW DELHI: Rebuffing the strident government stand against taking up a discussion on Manipur ahead of other House business, the opposition parties on Tuesday said Rajya Sabha has on seven occasions in the past suspended all work to discuss a matter raised, while it has suspended Question Hour on ten occasions to debate a subject.

With protests over Mani pur continuing in Parliament, the INDIA alliance led by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said the government logic against the adjournment notices moved under Rule 267, which entails suspension of all business to discuss a particular issue, is flawed in view of precedents.
