KALAPIPAL(SHAJAPUR): Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accused the BJP-led Centre on Saturday of neglecting OBCs and reiterated that the first task his party would undertake after being elected to government at the Centre would be to go for a “caste-based census to know the exact proportion so that everyone benefits”. He added that as of now “no one knows their exact numbers”.
“There is only one question before Hindustan – caste census. What is the number of OBCs and what should be their representation? This is the biggest question before the country,” Rahul said in Kalapipal assembly segment of Madhya Pradesh’s Shajapur district.
He referred to a recent injury sustained by former CM Kamal Nath and said the first thing the doctor did was an X-ray, besides other tests, to check for damage. “The time has come to conduct an X-ray of Hindustan to find out these numbers (of OBCs),” he said.
He made the announcement as Congress’ Jan Aakrosh Yatra entered Polia Kalan village in the OBC-dominated constituency. Rahul alleged the BJP-led coalition at the Centre was not giving due representation to the OBC community.
