Nia: Probing killing of J&K minorities, NIA raids Rajouri village | India News

NEW DELHI: The NIA on Saturday conducted raids in the case related to the January 2023 attack on minorities in Dhangri village of J&K’s Rajouri district. Five civilians were killed and several seriously injured in the strike, suspected to be a handiwork of banned terror outfit Lashker-e-Taiba.
The searches on Saturday covered five locations across Gursai village of Mendhar tehsil in Poonch district. NIA teams raided the residential premises of overground workers (OGWs) linked with LeT.
The Agency later said that it has seized several digital devices and documents containing “incriminating data and content”, which would be scrutinised to unravel the conspiracy behind the attack.
Two accused, Nisar Ahmed (aka Haji Nisar) and Mushtaq Hussain, were arrested by the NIA on August 31, 2023, and are currently lodged in Central Jail, Kot Bhalwal, Jammu. Disclosures made by these two men, along with inputs gathered by the NIA, led to Saturday’s raids.
NIA probe has revealed that both the arrested accused had harboured the terrorists behind the deadly attack. They had provided logistical support to the terrorists for over two months and sheltered them in a hideout. The duo had been operating on the directions of Pakistan-based LeT handlers Saifullah (aka Sajid Jutt; aka Abu Qatal; aka Qatal Sindhi) and Mohd Qasim.
