JAIPUR: Bharat Adivasi People (BAP) president Mohanlal Roat on Sunday said he had demanded five seats from Congress to stitch an alliance with INDIA bloc for Lok Sabha elections. These include Banswara and Udaipur from Rajasthan, Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh, Dahod in Gujarat, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
However, Roat said Congress was ready to offer only Dungarpur-Banswara LS seat and Bagidora assembly seat (for bypoll) to BAP.BJP has fielded Congress turncoat Mahendrajeet Singh Malviya from Banswara, who was MLA from Bagidora assembly seat.
BAP has announced its candidates for Banswara, Udaipur, Chittorgarh, Pali, Jalore-Sirohi and Tonk-Sawaimadhopur seats in Rajasthan.
“I don’t think alliance (with Congress) is a possibility anymore. We will not withdraw candidature of those we have already announced,” Roat told TOI. “We kept waiting. When Congress failed to decide on our demands, we announced our candidates,” he added.
